Position Overview
Foundation 65 seeks a creative, relationship-oriented, and strategic Communications & Development Manager to strengthen community engagement and expand philanthropic support for students and educators in Evanston/Skokie School District 65.
The Communications & Development Manager will lead Foundation 65’s external communications, fundraising campaigns, and events while helping shape long-term communications and development strategies that grow awareness, deepen donor relationships, and increase community investment.
The position is hybrid, with regular meetings and office hours in Evanston required. Some evening meetings and events are required.

Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: $38,000 annually
Location: Hybrid; based in Evanston, Illinois
Reports To: Executive Director

Key Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing
Digital Content Creation: Manage and grow social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) by creating compelling, mission-driven content.
Email & Newsletters: Write and distribute engaging e-newsletters and targeted donor communications.
Brand Management: Ensure all public-facing materials, including brochures and the website, are consistent with our brand voice.
Storytelling: Draft compelling stories, impact updates, appeals, and website content
Development & Fundraising
Campaign Management: Support and execute annual giving campaigns, end-of-year appeals, and giving days.
Lead communications and coordination for fundraising and community events
Help identify and implement strategies to grow donor engagement and increase giving.
Grant Support: Help identify grant opportunities
Database Management: Maintain and track donor data and grant information, and support gift processing, including acknowledgment letters, using our CRM system.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit communications and fundraising.
Writing: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Tech-Savviness: Proficiency with digital tools such as Canva, DonorDock (CRM), and Squarespace.
Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Mission Alignment: Commitment to educational equity and racial justice.
